Single Source Technologies Hosts Regional Southeastern Technology Days

Auburn Hills, MI – October 10, 2013 –Single Source Technologies (SST), a North American distributor of machinery brands such as Makino and Murata, is set to host a series of two Technology Days at its Greer, South Carolina facility this month to coincide with South-Tec. The first event of the series takes place on Tuesday, October 29, followed by the second event on Wednesday, October 30. Attendance is open to South-Tec participants, as well as local area visitors, from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. ET.

The SST Technology Days present a unique opportunity for Southeastern machinists, engineers and business owners to learn about the latest developments in manufacturing technology through a series of in-depth technical discussions and live equipment demonstrations. Engineers from all of SST’s major machine lines are scheduled to attend and meet with attendees for one-on-one consultations.

“We are dedicated to maintaining the Greer facility as a Southeastern hub for high-performance machining solutions and technology transfer,” said Dan Beckman of SST. “We invite everyone in the area to join us for an exciting display of advanced machine technologies, and hope that everyone will come away with solutions and strategies to improve their manufacturing operations, performance and profitability.”

Limo shuttle services are available from 11:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for all attendees traveling between SST and South-Tec (TD Convention Center). Additionally, lunch and dinner is offered from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 to 6:30 p.m. respectively. Registration for SST’s Technology Days is free. Technology Discussions and Demonstrations
A series of technology discussions are planned for each Technology Day event. Featured guest presenters will include lead engineers from several of SST’s top equipment manufacturers. Planned discussion topics will include:
    • Behind the Spreadsheet: Real Value Comparison of HMCs (Makino)
    • High-Precision 5-Axis Machining (Hermle)
    • Water-Based High-Speed EDM Hole and Diffuser Shape Machining of Blade and Vane Cooling Holes for Aerospace and
       Power Generation (Makino)
    • ID/OD Grinding Cases Studies (United Grinding Technologies/Studer), and
    • WinMax Control: “Fastest from Print to Part" (Hurco)

In addition to technical discussions, attendees can visit a variety of live machine demonstrations from Haimer, Hermle, Hurco, Makino and Studer. Specific machine processes are set to include:
    • Hermle C20U - High-precision five-axis machining for die/mold, medical, aerospace and job shops
    • Hurco TMX8 - WinMax control highlights, high-performance CNC slant bed turning, and medium to large batch machining
    • Makino a61nx – High-performance horizontal machining in aluminum and hard metal applications
    • Makino EDBV3 – Water-based, high-speed sinker EDMing of blade and vane cooling holes and diffuser shapes
    • Studer S33 – Outside and inside diameter grinding for small scale to high-production job shops
    • Haimer - Comfort version balancing and shrink fit machines
